PROJECT REGAL FOR SALE:
This 1984 Buick Regal was
stolen, stripped then recovered. The trunk identification sticker shows it to be a WH-1. Everything
was stripped down to the floorboards. By the codes it shows the paint and
interior to be black on black. We decided to make a race car out of it since it
was so far gone. The rear frame section was cut out and the Morrison rear half
installed. The rear end is a narrowed 9” with a Strangecenter section. Moser 35 spline axles were used along
with a gear ratio of 4:56. QA1 coil overs provide the
shock and spring for the back half of the car.
The transmission is a Turbo
400 with a manual reverse valve body. The stall converter is 3800 since we
decided to make it into a Pro-Street. The interior has a custom built dash (since
the other one was cut out) with Autometer gauges and
Tachometer. The seats are Recaro. Full roll cage was
also installed to help stiffen the chassis. The front suspension is all stock
down to the factory rotors and steering linkage.
A Wilwoodtwin master cylinder is used. The rear axle brakes are also discs by Wilwood. There is an aluminum fuel cell that was custom
made to hold 20 gallons of fuel. We also brought back the power windows and
door locks.
The engine is a BBC with a
displacement of 468 cubic inches. The block is a Gen V 4 bolt with a 2 piece
rear main seal. The crankshaft is a Scat. Connecting rods are the H-beam style
with ARP fasteners. The compression ratio is 13.5-1. The cylinder heads are
Merlin 111 with 2.30 intake and 1.90 exhaust. The camshaft
is a Comp Cams mechanical roller with .740 lift. The rocker arms are also Comp
Cams. A stud girdle was also used. Intake is a WeiandTeam G and modified 1050 CFM Dominator. Ignition is MSD distributor and MSD 6A
with rev limiter. 3000 CFM electric fan is used for cooling along with a custom
built 4 core radiator. Lights and turn signals all
work. The steering column is a non-tilt out of a mid 70’S Camaro. This car has been on the street and the
videos can be seen at YOUTUBE under user name gofast40972.
